Fade into His Love...Friday

December 11, 2015

I heard a song on KLOVE radio that prompted me to what I wanted to write about.  The words were exactly what I needed to hear.  It tells the story of the pattern of my behavior.  I can be so filled up with the love of Jesus and then one second later I get a thought that causes fear, doubt or worry….. and within that one second here I am again taking over the navigation and not allowing myself the gift of my Father taking care of me.  These lyrics are exactly me…I always try to do it on my own…I always think that I know what is best, and if I don’t know what is best then I create all these negative scenarios in my head that are going to happen.  Read the words and see if you can relate to any of them in anyway.

Let It Fade – By Jeremy Camp

Have you been walking on a surface that's uncertain?
Have you helped yourself to everything that's empty?
You can't live this way too long
There's more than this, more than this

Have you been standing on your own feet too long?
Have you been looking for a place where you belong?
You can rest, you will find rest
You can rest, you will find rest

Let this old life crumble, let it fade
Let this new life offered be your saving grace
Let this old life crumble, let it fade
Let it fade

Have you been holding on to what this world has offered?
Have you been giving in to all these masquerades?
It will be gone, forever gone
It will be gone, it will be gone

Let this old life crumble, let it fade
Let this new life offered be your saving graceLet this old life crumble, let it fadeLet it fade, let it fade

Are you carrying the weight too much?
You're running from the call, let it fade
You can rest, you will find rest
You can rest, you will find rest

Let this old life crumble, let it fade
Let this new life offered be your saving grace
Let this old life crumble, let it fade
Let it fade, let it fade
Let this old life crumble, let it fade

Have you been standing on your own feet too long?
Have you been looking for a place where you belong?

I have just gone through a job search for about six months….the roller coaster of that whole process after being at the same place for eleven years.  Well, I sincerely wish that I would have kept to the truthful words of this song, as I would have saved many ugly days of discouragement as I wondered why God was not coming on board to my plan!  After all, I carry the world on my shoulders and therefore must know what is best for me….oh, and all others also.

I found so many scriptures to go along with this devotional that I had a hard time choosing which ones to include.  Here are a few that I hope will be very encouraging to you, as they have been to me, as well as the blessed words of this incredible song.

 Now you’ve got my feet on the life path,
    all radiant from the shining of your face.
Ever since you took my hand,
    I’m on the right way.

Psalm 16:11 (MSG)
~~~~~~~~~~~~
  The Lord makes firm the steps
    of the one who delights in him;
        Psalm 37:23 (NIV)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Trust God from the bottom of your heart;
    don’t try to figure out everything on your own.
Listen for God’s voice in everything you do,
  everywhere you go;
    he’s the one who will keep you on track.
Don’t assume that you know it all.
    Run to God! Run from evil!
Your body will glow with health,
    your very bones will vibrate with life!
Honor God with everything you own;
    give him the first and the best.
Your barns will burst,
    your wine vats will brim over.

Proverbs 3:5-12 (MSG)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
 The Lord will guide you always;
    he will satisfy your needs in a sun-scorched land
    and will strengthen your frame.
You will be like a well-watered garden,
    like a spring whose waters never fail.
Isaiah 58:11 (NIV)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Jesus once again addressed them:
I am the world’s Light.
No one who follows me stumbles around in the darkness.
I provide plenty of light to live in.”

John 8:12
 (MSG)

My Sweet Lord, I ask you to keep us focused on the straight path of You!  The way that is always solid and peaceful.  We can be so distracted by the worries of this world and the crises that occur daily.  Remind us each moment that You indeed are in charge.  In our hearts we know that your way is the only way….YOU are the joy we receive living in these challenging times.   Guide us to be Your light to everyone we see, so that they will know you as we do.  In your precious name Amen.

  1. In a day when culture says one needs to be self sufficient. One needs to be skilled and not need help all the time. And the trouble with that is that there is some truth in it. So we plug along and try to put square pegs into round holes. In all our dedication to busyness and problem solving we forget that God is always there to rely on....only if we let Him.

    God bless...
