"For it is by grace
you have been saved, through faith --
and that not from yourselves. It is
the gift of God --
not by works, so that no one can boast." --
Ephesians 2:8, 9
All
of us like to receive something for nothing. I generally wait to buy
vitamins until there is a "buy one, get one free" special at the
drugstore. It is nice to get a car wash at no charge when your car is
fixed at the dealer's.
I
am one of those who had difficulty waiting to open birthday and Christmas
presents. I tear off the wrapping paper in short order. It is fun
to receive gifts.

When
I'm filling out reams of paperwork for something, or sorting out and paying
bills, or having a trying and tiring day, it seems inviting to think that some
day I will just be able to reap all the glories and joys of heaven at no charge
to me. It was all charged to Jesus. What an unspeakable gift of
grace!
