Friday Devotional...Be Not Weary In Well Doing

                                       ...Because from it you will grow
In Galatians 6:9 the scripture reads:
"And let us not be weary in well doing;
for in due season you shall reap, if you faint not”.

One of my favorite stories in the Old Testament is found in the Book of Esther. The King in that day was unaware of his servant Haman’s evil deeds. Haman worked deceit against Mordecai (the Jew) to hang him on the gallows that Haman had prepared for Mordecai and to destroy and annihilate all the Jews. Haman was the King’s right hand man at that time and the King did not know of Haman’s evil plan….but God did!

Isn’t it ironic that all who think they can get away with the deception of their hearts being wicked and conniving… find that somewhere down the road it all catches up to them and God reveals their intents. In modern terms “Your Busted!”

This story picks up in chapter 6 and ends in chapter 7 as Mordecai had at one time saved the Kings life. It was written in the Chronicles, but the king had forgotten.

One night the King couldn’t sleep, he was restless and so he commanded to bring the book of records of the chronicles; and they were read before the king. It was found written that Mordecai at one time had told two of the king’s keepers of the door, who sought to lay hands on king Ahasuerus to kill him. And the king said, What honor and dignity hath been done to Mordecai for this? Then said the king’s servants that ministered unto him …. there has been nothing done for him.

The story goes on to tell how Esther now the Queen (Mordecai’s niece) revealed to the king the whole setting of Haman’s plan to kill Mordecai and destroy all the Jews her own people.

And so it was, the tables were turned against Haman because the truth was revealed….and Haman was hung on the same gallows that he had built with the intensions to kill Mordecai.

The moral of this story is...
“And let us not be weary
in well doing;
for in due season
we shall reap, if we faint not”
