               Mary’s Song
sung to her cousin Elizabeth

And Mary said
“My soul glorifies the Lord
and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior,
for he has been mindful
of the humble state of his servant.
From now on all generations will call me blessed,
for the Mighty One has done great things for me—
holy is his name.
His mercy extends to those who fear him,
from generation to generation.
He has performed mighty deeds with his arm;
he has scattered those who are proud in their inmost thoughts.
He has brought down rulers from their thrones
but has lifted up the humble.
He has filled the hungry with good things
but has sent the rich away empty.
He has helped his servant Israel,
remembering to be merciful
to Abraham and his descendants forever,
just as he promised our ancestors.”

Luke 1:45-55

When the angel came to speak with Mary she had her doubts. She knew what happened to women who were thought to be adulterous, to women who became pregnant outside of marriage. Still she understood and said, "Yes...be it done unto me according to thy word."

We are not asked to do such things as Mary was by God. Still, when we hear His word, we must not look away. Whatever He asks to do is important. Now is the time to say yes to God, so that, through Him we can do amazing things for His kingdom. We may never be called to do such important world changing things as Mary was called to. Or, maybe we will be.  We need to remember that the things we are asked to do are, in their own way, world changing. Listen when He calls you to help another, when He calls you to speak out when it is uncomfortable, or even when He asks you to be joyful when you ae not happy. Do things that even seen to have no earth moving results built into His request.

Remember that He uses His people to change things. No matter how small it seems you must understand, do it, and sing your song.

Christmas blessings.
