12/9/14
Well, it's beginning to look a lot like Christmas. Festivities have begun. My neighbor's church had a Victorian Faire today. Then I was off to get some things I needed at Costco. The most interesting item was a chocolate cake with decadent chocolate fillings and frosting. Our Writers Group Christmas party is next Friday, and we are calling it a birthday party for Jesus, and that is written on the top.Next Saturday is our church women's Pink Link will be having our annual brunch. Women are table hosts, and each table is decorated off the chart. Last year we were entertained by the pastors singing songs. They were quite funny, and showed talents we did not know that they had. Our Gourmet is having a Christmas dinner on the 14th. The theme is "our favorite foods of Christmas." Well I am making baked salmon fillet. Not my favorite food...I hate fish...but my husband loves it. We are doing the white elephant game as well at Gourmet.
On the 15th our Bible Study Group is hosting a holiday party at one of the small nursing homes in Livermore. We will sing together, play Christmas Bingo, and give these amazing people prezzies that have been especially chosen for them. We have plans to meet friends a couple of times to share a meal in a restaurant. We also will have some friends in on Christmas Eve. Our sons and family will be here on Christmas Day. Christmas cards have started to roll in, and my Christmas cards and letter have been made and sent. I am busy but on top of it.
In the midst of all this merriment (for the most part) I hardly ever forget that Christmas is coming. It is nice to relish the facts of what happened and why...as we enjoy ourselves around the biggest gift of all. That is the gift that God provided when He sent Jesus to live and then die so that we could die and then live. When you think about the magnitude of this gift, it is beyond overwhelming. Not even a billionaire, using every cent in his bank account plus selling all his earthly goods, could provide even 1% of the value of this gift from God. I have let my imagination run wild here. I invite you to have a mental stream of consciousness where you conger up your ideas of what you have received and things, that if received, in the end, could never even start to measure up.

This season is filled with reasons for us to experience gratitude. Just think on all the reasons. The list goes on and on,
ReplyDeleteGod bless...
Thank you, Corinne. It is good timing for us to be reminded of all that we may have on our list of things we want to do; but none of it means a thing without our choosing gratitude first, last and in between each task and celebration! What a Glorious, Wonderful Gift we have received from God -- The King of Kings!
