Father or Judge?

August 10, 2010

For the LORD is our judge, the LORD is our lawgiver,
the LORD is
our king; He will save us.
-- Isaiah 33:22

When we think about God being our judge, we normally think of falling into judgment. Isaiah reminds us that God being our judge means that He will be there to judge us based on His will, His rule, and His grace. He is on our side and is looking to save, not condemn. So when we stand before our Judge we see instead our Father.

  1. Thank you, Annie!

I think one of the problems that people have in their relationship with God is fear that He will be judgemental. They cannot seem to see Him as a loving and caring, and if they have had issues with their earthly father it adds to their inability to have a healthy relationship with Him. This brings a lot to think about.

    Blessings!

  2. Thank you for this post - a verse that I just recently looked at myself! I am so thankful that God says right in the end "HE will save us" - so when He is judging us He sees us through his son, Jesus! Remaining in faith is all it takes. Enjoyed reading this verse again tonight.
