Celebrate Pentecost

This year, at Pentecost, which is celebrated this Sunday, May 19th. It would be a good  idea to take some time to read Acts, especially chapter 2. Take some time to pray, thanking the Holy Spirit for who He is and what He does. Take some time to meditate upon His person. You will likely experience the joy, hope, and encouragement that He provides.
The third person of the Trinity was sent to indwell in us to be our counsellor and teacher from within. Our bodies are said to be "temples of the Holy Spirit. He inspires us and gives us the nine gifts of...
  • The Word of Knowledge
  • The Word of Wisdom
  • The Gift of Prophecy
  • The Gift of Faith
  • The Gifts of Healings
  • The Working of Miracles
  • The Discerning of Spirits
  • Different Kinds of Tongues
  • The Interpretation of Tongues

    Here are some related scriptures...
  •
“Therefore, brethren, desire earnestly to prophesy.”
    (1 Corinthians 14:39)

     “… and desire spiritual gifts,
but especially that you may prophesy
    .”
    (1 Corinthians 14:1)

Do not quench the Spirit, do not despise prophecies.”
    (1 Thessalonians 5:19)

“Do not neglect the gift that is in you …
Meditate on these things, give yourself entirely to them,
that your progress may be evident to all.”
    (1 Timothy 4:14)

“Therefore I remind you to stir up the gift of God
which is in you through the laying on of my hands.”
    (2 Timothy 1:6)

The apostles were shivering, fearful wrecks after the resurrection...lacking courage and the ability to lead or teach. Jesus had told them to wait in the Upper Room till the ONE He would send had come. In a wind with tongues of fire the Holy Spirit came to them. They were empowered to go out and share the good news boldly. They were speaking and people who spoke many different languages heard them in their own tongue.

We are given this kind of power through the indwelling of the Holy Spirit and through the gifts that He has given to us as empowerment. Grab your Spirit given strength and become a soldier for God filled with His fire.
    Prayer to the Holy Spirit
Holy Spirit, come into our hearts.  Bring the brightness of your light, the warmth of your love, and the fullness of your truth so that our lives may be pleasing to you in every way. Amen.
