Cynthia had just gotten off the phone with her mom. As her most faithful prayer partner, she had called her mom as soon as she got the job offer. Cynthia had a good job, so she didn't want to rush in. Her mom agreed to be praying for Cynthia as she asked God for wisdom. Then she would decide whether to stay or go. Cynthia knew she was naturally cautious but she had just read Joshua 1:9 that morning in her daily devotional, so she was committed to being open to God's leading.

Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous.
Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged,
for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.
Joshua 1:9 NIV
Then Cynthia's mom
watched a reality show of a rancher taking his herd to the summer pasture. A calf, only a few days old, was having trouble
keeping up with his mother. As they approached the river, the rancher
watched the little guy carefully and decided to carry the calf across on his horse.
His men tied the calf down on the saddle and the rancher covered him with his body, snugging his legs into the horse. When the horse moved, the terrified calf kicked out of position. The only way to get him to the pasture on the other side was to tie the rope around his neck and literally drag him through the cold water.

The only way to get him to the pasture on the other side was to tie the rope around his neck and literally drag him through the cold water.
That little guy did his best to keep his head
above water as he struggled to get his footing. The rancher steadily pulled the rope along and up; he could see the little guy was tiring quickly. When they reached the river bank, and the calf was just starting to climb out, the rope pulled
away from the saddle horn and the calf went under. The rancher was quick and grabbed the end of
the rope just as a ranch hand came along side to help pull their weak one to shore.
This example of the rancher's loving care was just one more reassurance that God was leading her, and would take care of her when she faced difficulties and challenges.
Keep your lives free from the love of money
and be content with what you have, because God has said,
“Never will I leave you;
never will I forsake you."
Hebrews 13:5 NIV
God loves us so much! Pray with me that the next time we are struggling to keep our heads above water, whether it's a health issue, a relationship problem, or lack of finances, that we will remember that He's drawing us along and He will deliver us to the other side.

This is such a good illustration of how God will get us where we need to be...across raging rivers...any obstacle...to get us to safety.

Just what I needed to hear again today! Love the visual of the calf :)
