ONE FOR ALL... Sunday

Devotional for 3/9/14

The phrase, "One for all and all for one!" may conjure up visions of the Three Musketeers for many of us.  It refers to the thought that each individual should act in the best interest of the whole group, and the whole group should do the same for the individuals.  But in terms of our Christian life, it can take on a whole new meaning.  First, sin was passed on from one person to all of the world when Adam sinned in the Garden of Eden.  But of even greater importance, one man, the Son of God, brought righteousness through his death and resurrection to all of us.  Jesus is a perfect example of "One for all!"  Our response to that great sacrifice and offer of free forgiveness is our grateful "All for One" as we all share the good news of The One who gives us eternal life with him!
Romans 5:8 (34 kb)
While we were still sinners, Christ [The One] died for us [all]...  if, because of one man's trespass, death reigned through that one man [Adam], much more will those who receive the abundance of grace and the free gift of righteousness reign in life through the one man Jesus Christ.  Therefore, as one trespass led to condemnation for all men, so one act of righteousness leads to justification and life for all men.  For as by the one man's disobedience the many were made sinners, so by the one man's obedience the many will be made righteous.  Romans 5:8, 17-19 ESV

  1. The salvation Jesus bought for us is sometimes hard to wrap our minds around. It is a beautiful story about how One paid for the many by a sacrifice made perfect by the fact that He is the perfect Lamb...which was foreshadowed in the Old Testament by the priests requiring only unblemished sacrifices for the atonement of sins.

    God bless
