There was no way of escape. Faith was nowhere to be found. To the North and South steep mountains hemmed them in. The Red Sea was in front of them. Behind them was the road they had taken through the desert wilderness. Now Pharaoh, his chariots, and his soldiers, were coming down that very road towards them. God had led Moses and the people of Israel to this very spot. Death by drowning or death by slaughter, could this really be God's plan?
Promises of freedom from oppression and a
new homeland flowing with milk and honey had filled them with zeal and
joy to escape their captors in Egypt. Now fear too terrifying to put
into words overwhelmed them. Then the words were found
and the Israelites spewed bitter anger, feeling betrayed by Moses, and no
doubt, by God Himself.
In the beginning God created and one of the things He created was a
land bridge under the waters of the sea at the exact place where Israel was to
cross into the Promised Land. For years
people have discussed these two verses in Exodus.
We in this
century now know, because of modern technology, satellite images, and National Geographic
that there is a land bridge under the water and a strong east wind
that continued for many hours would indeed make an unbelievable sight and sound while it dried out this particular strip of land
that had been under the water so His people could pass over! The Israelites were astounded by
the action of their God on their behalf. He faithfully fulfilled His plan and followed His course in spite of their complaints and accusations.
Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed,
for His compassions never fail.
They are new every morning;
great is Your faithfulness.
for His compassions never fail.
They are new every morning;
great is Your faithfulness.
Lamentations 3:22-23
God
enjoys showing us His preparedness, His compassion, His power, His love, and,
His glory, so we can rest in His promises. God’s faithfulness and timing have been set in eternity and are revealed how, when, and where He has planned all along.
Now if I can just remember to
rest in this during my next Trial of Trust!

This is something I was not aware of. So often the miracles of God are couched in ordinary things that can be understood by natural law about things. This is one of those natural features of Creation that God uses for His miracles.
