“Love Revealed” Part Five...Thursday

Devotional...7/4/13

Lesson 5
“Authentic Love”

....Definition of Authentic:
Not false or copied,        genuine, real

Above all things
have intense
and unfailing love
or one another,
for love covers
a multitude of sins
 [forgives and disregards
the offenses of others.]
                                                                                        1Peter 4:8 AMP

Above all have intense and unfailing love for one another.  Right!  How in the world do we do
that?  Let me tell you can't!  That is not on your own, not in your own strength, it can only
be done through Christ living in you and through you.  It can only be down if you know
how the Father feels about you, how he sees you.  You have to know how much He loves you.
You have to know He sees you through Jesus.

Love covers a multitude of sins [forgive and disregard the offenses of others].  Is that not what our Father did because of Jesus?  He no longer sees our sins our unrighteousness He sees us through His son Jesus.  He sees what Jesus did.  We are the righteousness of God through Christ and that is how He sees you and me.

We too have to see others as the Father sees them, through the eyes of Jesus.  For me when
I am in a difficult situation dealing with a not so lovely person I have to ask to see that person as Jesus sees them.  Let me tell you it is not always easy.  Sometimes we have to step back and get quiet before the Lord and ask him to help you.  I often have to spend time praying in the Spirit, to get clarity of mind, to put my eyes back on Jesus, so that I can see as He sees.

Love endures long and is patient and kind;
love never is envious nor boils over with
jealousy, is not boastful or vainglorious,
does not display itself haughtily.
It's not conceited (arrogant and inflated with pride);
it is not rude (unmannerly)
and does not act unbecomingly.
Love (God's love is in us) does not insist
on its own rights or its own way,
for it is not self-seeking; it is not
touchy or fretful or resentful, it takes no account
of the evil done
to it [it pays no attention to a suffered wrong].
It does not rejoice at injustice and unrighteousness,
but rejoices when right and truth prevail.
Love bears up under anything and everything
that comes, is ever ready to believe the best of every person,
its hopes are fadeless under all circumstances,
and it endures everything [without weakening].
LOVE NEVER FAILS

  1. Love never fails says it all. God's love never fails us. We must aim to have love for others modeled by the love we find in God.

  2. Thank you Lord for your unfailing love for us! Because He has demonstrated His love for us through not only sending His Son but by giving us Holy Spirit to abide in us. We can stand upon His promises and the fullness of the word of God. Thank you Lord for loving me in spite of myself.
