The faithful love of the Lord never ends!
His mercies never cease.
Great is His faithfulness;
His mercies begin afresh each morning.
His mercies never cease.
Great is His faithfulness;
His mercies begin afresh each morning.
~ Lamentations 3:22-23 ~
We have in this scripture a reminder that God’s
love is never ending. We need to think about this. Something that never ends is
eternal. God is eternal. We, who have accepted the gift that He gave us when
His Son died for our sins also became eternal. Well, I will backtrack a bit to say
that all human souls are eternal. They have been created eternal and in His image to fellowship
with God. The important thing about this is to know, to really know, and
embrace, the difference in the types of eternity where we will be invited to
spend forever.
For those of us who have heard God’s invitation
it will be a place of joy forever being loved by God and worshiping Him. We
invite Jesus to be Lord of our lives, and we are in. We receive help from God
who is never further away than the breath we breathe. Our God is a triune God,
and everything we need to live the life we were created to live, and when we
walk down the last few feet of the path set before us we join Him. This happens
not because of some power of ours that means that we qualify. That could never
be.
We are given it because of the love that God has
for us in spite of our shortcomings and
misdeeds. The simple fact is that it is an agape love that is freely given. In
addition we are the benefit of intercession
on our behalf and the fact that we are a temple where the Holy Spirit indwells
and gives us strength. How wonderful is that?
The scripture tells us that His mercies never
cease, and He is aware of how helpless we can be. He exercises faithfulness,
not just faithfulness but great faithfulness.
And the mercies we receive do not get diminished as the days go by and
not due to our failures; in fact they come to us afresh every morning jar
filled, cup running over nothing lessened or running low.
Heavenly Father, thank You for the eternal
characteristic that You gave us when You created us. Thank You, for guiding me
and leading me to accept Jesus as my Lord and Savior. Because of these gifts I
KNOW where I am going and with Whom I will be spending eternity. Thank you,
Lord.
Amen.
Amen.
