Signs of Faith ....or Failure
Every
day, there is more bad news. Stories
that make me want to crawl back into bed and pull the covers over my head. Even in my personal life; friends and
neighbors are suffering, and many times the only thing I can offer are my
prayers.
But,
while this may be the only thing, it is something powerful. Bigger at times than the practical, everyday
things that those in the world may offer.
It’s really a matter of perspective.
I see what is going on. I know
that people are in pain, but I must hold on to my faith. If I do nothing else, I have to do this.
I am
blessed and know it. God reminds me
every day, by showing me the beauty in the everyday things of this world. Horrible things are happening, even while I
enjoy my walk to work. At the same time,
there are signs of beauty. Remembering
this is what allows me to keep going.
Signs that give me reasons to continue to praise God, even while I pray
for those whose suffering seems unbearable.
So I pray for them to find Jesus in their darkest misery. I pray for them to recall even the smallest
act of mercy that will allow them to hold on just a few moments more.
Like
the small plant and flowers that grow in cracks that have just enough dirt in
them. Faith can grow, even out of
something painful and ugly.
This
world could end today. Before my next
breath, I could be gone. Each breath is
a gift each spark of light is hope. I
feel the Holy Spirit rise up and whisper words for me to use when someone needs
a touch of God’s Love. Even if they are
not ready to say that He is the reason that they feel loved, I can speak of
love and allow God to speak to them long after I have
gone.
Thank
You, God, for allowing me to see beyond the pain into the love in Your
Eyes. Thank you for allowing me to know
that this agony is temporary, that one day, we will be with you in heaven;
surrounded by Your Glory. Please keep me
mindful of the fragility of this life, and grateful for the life to come. I pray this, in the Precious Name of Jesus
Christ, Amen!
We must pay the most careful attention,
therefore, to what we have heard, so that we do not drift away. For since the message spoken through angels was binding, and every
violation and disobedience received its just punishment, how shall we escape if we ignore so great a salvation? This
